MEDIA RELEASE - NOTL AMBASSADORS RETURN WITH EXPANDED PROGRAM IN 2025

May 2025

Niagara-on-the-Lake Ambassadors, now in their 5th season, are happy to announce the launch of their 2025 program on Friday May 16th.  This year, the program has expanded to 100 volunteers, including 30 new members.  Everyone is trained and excited to start greeting visitors and residents.

The Ambassadors are thrilled to unveil a new Seasonal Kiosk, located beside the Court House on Queen Street. Inspired by a historical sentry box located on the site to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of 1812 in 2012, the Kiosk is a welcome centre to greet visitors & residents to help them discover more about everything that Niagara-on-the-Lake has to offer.  The Seasonal Kiosk was truly a community project: construction materials were sourced from local vendors and it was built by graduating students at the Niagara College School of Trades. There was outstanding support for the Kiosk project from the Municipal Heritage Committee, Town Council & Staff, Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Tourism Niagara-on-the-Lake.

On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holiday Mondays, from Victoria Day Weekend to Thanksgiving, look out for Ambassadors dressed in their blue vests.  Ambassadors will be at the kiosk and strolling the streets of Old Town to connect with visitors and to share their passion for the town.

Ambassadors will also be stationed inside the Court House.  Yes, the historic Niagara-on-the-Lake District Court House on Queen Street will now be open to visitors on weekends, when the Ambassadors are on duty…. yet another opportunity for Ambassadors to share the stories and history of this great town.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Court House and the unveiling of the Ambassadors’ Seasonal Kiosk will take place on Friday May 16th at 11:30 am.

Laurie Harley, Co-Lead of the Program, pointed out that the “all-volunteer” program wouldn’t be possible without the support of Tourism Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and a dedicated group of tourism partners.  “They are our Champions.  They host site visits, provide in-kind support, keep Ambassadors informed and, most importantly, encourage them to continue to share the unique NOTL story and create unforgettable memories for our visitors".

Niagara-on-the-Lake Ambassadors are volunteers, proud to donate time to promote and support Tourism Niagara-on-the-Lake by greeting visitors and residents and turning every encounter into an extraordinary experience.
